Can bitcoin fight energy poverty, the digital divide and financial exclusion?

octubre 5, 2022 - 14:00

The world, and especially developing economies, are facing a triple challenge of energy poverty, a growing digital divide, and significantly underbanked communities.

By some estimates, more than half of the world’s population does not have access to reliable, clean energy, internet, and financial services such as banking. For many of these communities, they have abundant clean energy potential from sources such as solar, wind, and hydro, but are unable to tap into these resources because of poor financing and intermittency.
While many are concerned with bitcoin's environmental impact, it can in fact be a key technology to solve this triple challenge.
